Mastering Posterior Composites

– Modern Essentials

Posterior composite restorations are commonly underrated. They are however, one of the most common clinical procedures performed by dental clinicians, yet one of the most technique-sensitive and difficult procedures to master.

A well-restored tooth with resin composite can restore function and aesthetics, but can be unpredictable to do well if a proper restorative protocol is not followed.

This fast-paced one day workshop will give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to predictably restore a posterior composite restoration, by following principles and protocols to help ensure your next posterior restoration is a successful and predictable one.

What you will learn:

  • The Design - Prep - Build philosophy

  • Assessment of tooth structure and whether or not to cusp cover your restorations

  • How to achieve a predictable contact each and every time

  • The new and predictable "horizontal layering" technique to simplify and improve your posterior restorations

  • Fast and efficient finishing and polishing for posterior composite restorations

A majority of the workshop will be dedicated to hands-on, where participants will have the opportunity to complete a Class II restoration, and if time permits, a Class I restoration. Participants will be required to bring their own loupes.
