Mastering Aesthetic Posterior Composites
– Modern Essentials
How do I make my posterior restorations look life-like, yet still function well with great longevity?
A good posterior composite restoration is commonly underrated and overlooked. They are one of the most common clinical procedures performed by dental clinicians and is our "bread and butter", yet can be one of the most technique-sensitive and difficult procedures to master.
A well-restored tooth with resin composite can restore function and aesthetics, but can be unpredictable to do well if a proper restorative protocol is not followed.
This fast-paced one-day workshop will give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to predictably restore an aesthetic posterior composite restoration. The course will equip you with the principles and protocols to help elevate your restorations so they are no longer just flat white "fillings".
What you will learn:
Assessment of tooth structure and whether to cusp cover or not
How to achieve predictable contacts each and every time
Perfecting your posterior aesthetics
How to recreate anatomy with your cusp buildup, even when there are missing cusps or on a broken-down tooth
Selecting the right shade and use of tints
The predictable "horizontal layering" technique that will simplify and improve your restorations
Fast and efficient finishing and polishing to give a great final aesthetic shape, contour and lustre
A majority of the workshop will be dedicated to hands-on, where participants will have the opportunity to complete an aesthetic Class II restoration, and if time permits, a Class I restoration with staining. Participants will be required to bring their own loupes.
